ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Marleen M McDowell’s vision for her future was an ideal marriage and a life of tranquility. Foolishly, she expected it to ‘happen’ as soon as the marriage certificate was signed...she was wife...he was husband...and all was well. Sadly, life is not that easy…
Years later, her dream did come true-after devouring stacks of books on male/female relationships, attending seven marriage seminars, and being willing to put the knowledge into practice. Change can be so difficult… but so worth it!
After 50 years of marriage, she and her husband Aaron are one in heart, soul, mind, and spirit. Their life together is an unending adventure; even a trip to the local dump is a time to enjoy each other.
In 1996, the couple pioneered their off-grid retirement home in the secluded Cascade Mountains. There in the early morning hours when the pines are silhouetted like black lace against the dawn sky, she writes to encourage others that they too can have their dream come true.
Marleen has written numerous short articles for journals and magazines and has contributed to a James Bell anthology and an inspirational book, “Twenty-One Days on the Mountain Top”, and now adds her own book to the list.

Hello...
My real name is Marleen, but I have been called Mert, Myrtle, Maureen, Margaret or some such ‘em’ name so often I answer to anything starting with-mmm…
